AAC - Aerospace and Advanced Composites

Our aerospace research is focused on

• composite materials based on polymer- and ceramic and matrices for extreme loads
• methods for monitoring the damage progress and for the determination of the failure of components (Structural Health Monitoring)
• test and characterization methods for materials and components under operational conditions
• coatings (e.g. tribology) and adhesive bonding

ARC is coordinator of the Austrian Aeronautics Network AAR. The AAR comprises industrial and scientific competences in the areas of light weight and composite materials and components.
Since 1998 ARC is a certified Space Materials Testhouse under ESTEC frame contracts.
