High resolution ultrasonic inspection system

The facility enables the measurement of the adhesion force between two materials in cyclic closed contacts which are subjected to fretting. This means that pin and disc are oscillated in their contact plane with small amplitudes (50 <> 100 µm). "Cyclic contact" means that the contact between the pin and the disc is closed and opened for several (thousand) times.

High resolution ultrasonic inspection system

For ultrasonic flaw detection (e.g. for inspection of soldered joints, diffusion bonded contacts or welded zones) a highly sophisticated ultrasonic inspection system of the type Panametrics Multiscan is available. Material defects (porosity, delaminations, cracks, etc.) can be assessed with a resolution > 20 µm by mapping (A-,B-, C-images) of areas in the range of 2500 cm².
Assessment of degradation due to thermal effects in particular thermal shock. Correlation with results on microstructure, thermophysical and mechanical tests can be offered.
